  • Position Description

    As the, Engineering Technician II, you will perform standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations. You will follow standard work methods on recurring assignments but receives explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments; technical adequacy of routine work is reviewed on completion; nonroutine work may also be reviewed in progress.

    You will perform at this level one or a combination of such typical duties as:

    • Follow specific instructions, assembles or constructs simple or standard equipment or parts; may service or repair simple instruments or equipment.
    • Conducts a variety of tests using established methods.
    • Prepare test specimens, adjusts and operates equipment, and records test data, pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors.  
    • Extract engineering data from various prescribed but non-standardized sources; processes the data following well-defined methods including elementary algebra and geometry; presents the data in prescribed form.

    You may perform a combination of other duties as required that’s associated with this position:

    • Prepare, modify and maintain plans, designs, drawings, and schematics for C5ISR systems and components.
    • Work from sketches, notes, and verbal instructions.
    • You may perform site surveys and capture existing data and make recommendations to implement new equipment and infrastructure.
    • You may work with engineers in specific disciplines, which may require some knowledge of that discipline.
    • You will perform complex tasks requiring the consideration of multiple variables to determine proper course of action.
    • Receive general guidance/supervision but normally works independently on mastered tasks.
    • You will be required to lead small teams in performance of tasks using your knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular C5ISR field.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • Requires a High School diploma and 3-4 years of experience in a C5ISR related field performing system equipment/cable plant integration and installation.
    • 3 to 4 years of work Experience with implementation and maintenance of US NAVY C5ISR systems.
    • Must be able to distinguish between different colors and the ability to read and understand blue prints for Cable Plant Systems.
    • You must Possess manual dexterity to complete fine motor tasks and the ability to climb ladders.
    • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to lift and carry items weighing ≈22.7 kg (50 lb)
    • Applicants must have Cable Plant Infrastructure experience.
    • Applicants must successfully undergo a background investigation and drug screening.
    • This position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require only with U.S. Citizens and must have ability to obtain/maintain DoD Secret Level Security Clearance.
    • Must willing and able to travel up to 50% or greater, CONUS and OCONUS locations may be required. Military Veterans and Spouses encouraged to apply.

    Preferred Qualifications and Requirements:

     

    • BICSI certification preferred
