  • Position Description

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Investigate unusual maintenance problems and keep the Supervisor aware of any change in equipment serviceability status.
    • Recommend changes to work methods, procedures and equipment to improve cost, time effectiveness and customer service.
    • Keep track of spare parts and identify shortages of shop inventory to supervisor.
    • Perform research of technical solutions leading to procurement action.
    • Assist local and national contractors regarding equipment installation, operation and maintenance including computer hardware and software, support equipment and data collection.
    • Ensure all equipment/software renovations and installations conform to DND standards.
    • Assist in inspection, testing, adjusting and evaluation of all IT equipment.
    • Perform audio/video setup and operation of equipment for presentations.


    Administrative duties related to the position, including:

    • Ensure data is correct in work orders.
    • Prepare and submit technical reports as required.
    • Ordering, receiving and procurement of equipment.
    • Participate in equipment training as required.
    • Assist GES Technicians as required.
    • Ensure all assigned deliverables and other reports are completed accurately and on time.
    • Visibly demonstrate Serco Values and work practices while completing duties.
    • Other related duties relevant to this position as may be required.
    • Co-ordinate and participate in all IT projects.
    • The IT Technician will be responsible for special duties as required and directed by the TIS Supervisor and/or TIS Manager.
    • Provides advice or help services to users in the operation and maintenance of network software products as required as required.
    • Provide efficient support services to users, to determine the nature of problems and resolve them.
    • Act in a Network Administrator role when required.

    **Hourly pay rate is CAD $30.64**



    • IT Training from a recognized institution
    • Two years’ experience working on IT Network systems in an operational environment
    • Reliability Status required
    • Computer skills in Windows 7 & 10, XP, Office Suite, SQL and various other applications
    • Possession of a valid Class 5 NL Driver’s Licence
    • Knowledge of Linux would be an asset
    • Ability to successfully pass a Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol Screening Test
    • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Level II security clearance is required.
    • Possession of or the ability to obtain and maintain a Ramp Defensive Driving Course (DND/RDDC) certification to operate vehicles on the airfield is required. (Dependent upon position, removed for positions for which this qualification does not apply)
