    Position Sumary:

     

    Under general supervision, the Lead Chemist provides research and analysis on various substances to determine chemical properties, composition and structure and to investigate potential applications. The Lead Chemist develops related findings, conclusions, and recommendations and presents information to client; disciplines may include organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry and analytical chemistry

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Knowledge of chemical/physical principles, theories, and established methodologies sufficient to manage the full range of duties involved in conducting analytical chemistry projects.
    • Extensive experience using instruments for analyzing organic and/or inorganic compounds and direct experience supervising analytical chemists and laboratory operations.
    • Performs laboratory analysis and data validation as required to maintain laboratory throughput.
    • Evaluates operations and makes recommendations to improve operations. Holds planning & strategy meetings. Suggests modifications to existing protocols & standing operating procedures, equipment, processes or techniques.
    • Participates in evaluation process to include set up, operation and monitoring of equipment, apparatus and more complex experimental procedures involving novel samples. Provides technical guidance, instruction and oversight.
    • Assists with lab maintenance. Schedules experiments, suggests new equip, summarizes and records data in official notebooks, orders supplies and maintains a safe working environment. 

     

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    • Requires a bachelor's chemistry degree and 4-6 years environmental laboratory experience
    • Familiar with a variety of analytical chemistry concepts, practices, and procedures including EPA SW­846 methods and EPA Air Methods.
    • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
    • direct experience managing and supervising large projects of a similar nature, and knowledge of NELAC Institute standards.
    • Must be US Citizen; no sponsorship available. Position is based in Chelmsford, MA
