Leads the technical support for a major Navy warfare system in a DoD acquisition program office in PEO Integrated Warfare Systems (IWS). You will provide direct support and also lead your team to provide technical support to your PEO IWS Navy customer as part of an integrated team from our team office right outside the Washington Navy Yard near the Washington Nationals Stadium. You will:
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead support to the development, operation, and maintenance of complex technology systems. Participate in the systems engineering, integration, and test processes to ensure the performance of the total system.
Support senior technical personnel and program managers in the planning, oversight, and execution of complex and advanced projects related to research, development, and acquisition programs. Typically support multiple project activities such as development, T&E, production, and sustainment. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to lower level technical staff.
Supervise and reviews activities of staff including scheduling and assigning work to meet program/project completion dates. Work closely with senior customer personnel in providing solutions to complex problems and advice on technical issues.
Apply advanced technical concepts, techniques, and procedures to support project teams in the development of technical products. Support work in design, evaluation, planning, testing, and operation in support of program-level system development, engineering analysis and research.
Exercise independent judgment in conducting complex analyses and development efforts, and provide technical direction to other staff. Educate and advise more junior staff members in the technical aspects of their efforts.
Prepare and review input to major technical reports, status reports, official government correspondence, technical memoranda, contract reports, and presentations. Develop and present briefings to senior government and contractor personnel.
Comply with applicable quality and security procedures in the performance of duties. Establish and monitor standards for internal quality programs. Review work of assigned staff for quality, completeness, and technical correctness.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree plus 10 years of related experience. Degree should be in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) or management discipline. Advanced degree desired. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 15 years of applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted based on education, or highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
Experience with DoD acquisition programs, surface Navy weapon and combat systems, or command and control systems.
Experience in one or more technical areas related to DoD program management such as systems engineering, Test & Evaluation, cyber security, hardware or software engineering and development, or program protection.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Demonstrated command of systems engineering principles, DoD acquisition program management processes, technical management, or business management.
Leadership and project management experience.
Advanced developmental knowledge or operational Navy experience of Navy C4I or Combat System equipment and software.
Effective customer and organizational-level communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
Secret security clearance required.
