  • Position Description

    As the, Engineering Technician III, you will perform assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed. You will select or adapt standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents. You will receive initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed; perform recurring work independently; review work for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.

    You will perform at this level one or a combination of such typical duties as:

    • Construct components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment.
    • May troubleshoot and correct malfunctions.  
    • Follow specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment.   
    • Conduct various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement; selects, sets up, and operates standard test equipment and records test data.  
    • Extract and compile a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc.; processes data, identifying errors or inconsistencies; selects methods of data presentation.  
    • Assist in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials which are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts.
    • Develop information concerning previous operational failures and modifications.
    • Use judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.

    May perform a combination of other duties as required that’s associated with this position:

    • Prepare, modify and maintain plans, designs, drawings, and schematics for C5ISR systems and components.
    • Work from sketches, notes, and verbal instructions.
    • May perform site surveys and capture existing data and make recommendations to implement new equipment and infrastructure.
    • May work with engineers in specific disciplines, which may require some knowledge of that discipline.
    • Perform complex tasks requiring the consideration of multiple variables to determine proper course of action.
    • Receive general guidance/supervision but normally works independently on mastered tasks.
    • Will be required to lead small teams in performance of tasks.




    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • High School diploma and 5-7 years of experience in a C5ISR related field performing engineering design, integration and installation.
    • 1 to 3 years of experience with implementation and maintenance of US NAVY C5ISR systems.
    • Must be able to distinguish between different colors.
    • Must have the ability to read and understand blue prints for Cable Plant Systems.
    • Must possess manual dexterity to complete fine motor tasks.
    • Must have the ability to climb ladders and lift and carry items weighing ≈22.7 kg (50 lb.)


    Must be able to demonstrate you are able to work with Inside & Outside Cable Plant Infrastructure experience with the follow:


    • Installation of Raised computer flooring.
    • Installation of Conduit and various types of Cable Tray Systems.
    • Installation, Termination and Testing of Copper-Based Structured Cabling Systems.
    • Installation, Termination, Splicing and Testing of Fiber Optic Cabling.
    • Installation of Copper-based and Fiber-based Outside Plant underground Cabling Systems.
    • Troubleshoot both Copper and Fiber Optic Cable Installation
    • Applicants must successfully undergo a background investigation and drug screening.

    • Must be able to demonstrate you have the knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular C5ISR field
    • Must be able to successfully undergo and successfully pass a background investigation and drug screening.
    • Must be willing and able to travel up to 50% or greater, CONUS and OCONUS location may be required
    • This position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Level Security Clearance.
