Applicant performs a variety of tasks including:
-- Inspection, repairs, installs, modifies, and maintains electrical/electronic systems, circuits, and equipment
--Incorporate installation experience including the moving and un-crating of equipment, the installation of electronic equipment, ducts, cableways, cables, high density cable connectors, RF cable connectors, waveguide, fiber connectors and antennas
-- Reading, interpreting, and working from blueprints, drawings, manuals, handbooks, and technical specifications
Applicants may be certified in “Multi-pin” Connectors IAW MIL-STD-20035A(SA), MIL-STD-2042B Fiber Optic, and be proficient NAVSEA Standards Items to include 009-22 & 009-73. Applicants must have a general understanding of NAVSEA Manual S0400-AD-URM-010/TUM Rev 06 (Tag Out Users). They must be proficient in NAVSEA WAF (Work Authorization Forms) procedures. Applicant may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty, or military training may apply.
Work is performed onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations in an area that is somewhat uncomfortable due to drafts, noise, temperature variation and the like and with equipment where carelessness would probably result in minor cuts, bruises, muscle strains, serious injury, or death.
Employees must be able to:
--Work in high heat spaces
--Climb shipyard dry dock stairs and climb up and down ladders and
--Crawl through hatches to access all areas of the ship
--Work in the kneeing position and layout of cable runs that are under false decking.
--Carry 50lbs. The employee can be lifting 25lbs to 50lbs 5 – 10% of the day, carrying 10 to 40lbs throughout the ship 25 to 50% of the day or pushing and pulling while running cable or installing equipment up to 80% of the day.
--Be on their feet in a standing, crouching or walking position up to 90% of the day
This work is physically demanding and is performed in an industrial environment with trip hazards and requires good mobility.
--Position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and 5-7 years of AIT Installation experience in the field or in a related area
--Applicant must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of electronics repair, fabrication, and installation
--Applicants must be able to travel to various work sites such as San Diego, CA, Everett WA, Pearl Harbor HI, Mayport FL & Yokosuka Japan
--Applicants must be available to work second or thirds shift as needed and able to work more than 40 hours per week
--Applicants must successfully undergo a background investigation and pre-employment drug screen
