Position Description

This position supports the Dual Band Radar project within the Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) Above Water Sensors Program Office (PEO IWS 2.0).

General Duties and Responsibilities

Provides senior systems engineering support for assigned systems and programs in a defense acquisition program office setting near the Washington Navy Yard, DC.

  • Responsibilities can include using technical expertise and acquisition experience to support the requirements generation, acquisition, development, production, integration, test and evaluation, fielding, fleet support, and disposal of assigned systems and systems of systems, particularly related to US Naval surface ship radars and electronic warfare systems.
  • Specific tasks could include, but are not limited to:
    • Maintaining detailed integrated system development or production schedules.
    • Reviewing specifications and acquisition documentation for accuracy.
    • Coordinating input of technical field activities and laboratories to technical and acquisition documentation.
    • Participating in design reviews and other formal acquisition milestone reviews.
    • Coordinating with the safety community and coordinating resolution of safety-related actions.
    • Reviewing contract documentation for technical content, assisting with Test and Evaluation planning and preparation including coordination with fleet personnel and testing organizations.
    • Tracking and assessing system casualties or failures.
    • Tracking project status and actions.
    • Tracking project cost performance and spending, and other technical acquisition duties as assigned.
  • Has independent direct interaction with client and team personnel and supervises more junior team members as necessary.
  • Additional duties include management of a small team of contractor personnel to include timekeeping management, performance appraisals, mentorship, and similar personnel and subcontract management tasks.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or management field plus at least ten years or Master’s plus at least eight years of related experience. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 20 years applicable work/military experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
  • At least two years of direct project management experience and at least one year of supervisory/personnel management experience required.
  • Secret security clearance required with top secret clearance eligibility.

PREFERRED

  • Defense acquisition program office management experience is desired.
  • Prior US Navy experience with radar and electronic warfare systems a plus.
