This position will support Serco’s efforts to assist EPA in the area of estimating human exposure to chemicals, pointing toward risk assessment.
The work may include review and evaluation of existing models, modifying existing models, and/or development of new models, as well as development of input data sets, execution/evaluation of model runs, and preparation of results including visualization. In addition, maintenance of models and their associated data bases will be required. Models are expected to be primarily stochastic, microenvironmental, multipathway, and based on time-activity patterns with a focus on inhalation exposure and may address single or multiple chemicals. However, some model work may include multimedia and/or deterministic modeling. The models will likely address both overall exposure and exposure to different subgroups (e. g., gender, age categories).
Both Master’s and Ph. D. level applicants will be considered.
3-4 years of experience with these model types is highly preferred, as is experience with Fortran.
Facility/experience with multiple programming languages and software packages and/or the ability to learn additional ones is very desirable.
Statistical data analysis and risk assessment experience are beneficial attributes.
In addition, facility with Microsoft Office products (e. g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access) will be useful. Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively within a team environment are necessary.
