Position Description

Serco has several Hardware Integration contracts with Navy’s Space and Warfare Command producing Naval Integration Engineering Facility (NIEF), Automated Digital Network Systems (ADNS), and various other system equipment racks. The Delivery Orders (DOs) are for the sourcing, assembly, factory acceptance testing, and delivery of various production units in accordance with the production Baseline (PBL).

Serco is seeking a Engineering Technician III/Production Planner to provide a variety of support functions to production, logistics, and program management teams to execute production tasking in accordance with the overall production plan.


Other duties may include:

  • Planning responsibilities will include, creating work orders from Technical Drawing Packages and Indentured Part Trees; create Job Travelers, execute Work orders, develop/modify additional paperwork required for production builds
  • Scheduling responsibilities will include, working with Production manager and Project Managers to schedule production task execution and working with Material Planner to monitor material availability prior to execution of production builds
  • Execution responsibilities will include, managing the production effort from work order creation to build completion to include coordination of quality checks and testing with other departments, and transfer to shipping/warehouse. Create and maintain production status reports. Monitor quality of work products and provide guidance to technicians on any issues identified.


Required Skills:

  • Ability to read, understand, and utilize assembly drawings, Bill of Materials, Indentured Part Trees (>5000 line items), Engineering Change Notices, Non-conformance reports, and Travelers
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Will work rotating shifts (due to COVID-19)
  • Proficiency in MS Excel software
  • Experience and familiarity in a low volume / high mix production environment with direct experience in resolving production issues as they arise by working with the manufacturing engineering team.
  • Proven experience in communicating requirements to members of cross functional teams to manage the receipt, issuance, and tracking of production materials
  • Previous experience in the review, interpretation and decomposition of technical drawings and parts lists to ensure products are built to print and identify discrepancies
  • Experience with MRP systems (CMPro, SAP, Costpoint/Deltek) or other production planning management programs
  • Experience working on US Navy / DoD production programs building and kitting COTS based electronic equipment.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years experience in a production/materials planning environment
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years experience in a production/materials planning environment
  • 4 years production exposure with minimum 2 years production planning
