In beautiful Colorado Springs, Serco has projects supporting NORAD/ NORTHCOM and US Space Force! This cleared Senior Network Cabling Technician / Engineering Technician VI position will be supporting the buildup and modernization of facilities across Colorado Springs. You will be part of a 15 -20 -member team that works closely with the customer and other Serco teams to deliver quality systems. Kyle W. Johnson, RCDD, PMP, CTS leads this team with over 30 years’ experience and is an Army MI veteran. The team has been recognized by the customers for their outstanding contributions to several contracts and programs.


The Senior Network Cabling Technician / Engineering Technician VI Engineering works on a team supporting cabling, equipment and C4ISR system installations. This position pulls, terminates and dresses Category 6A and Fiber Optic cabling. Installs and documents IT equipment, cable conveyance, antennas and supporting systems. Performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed. Selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents. The Engineering Technician V receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed; performs recurring work independently; work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions. Leads teams, mentors and helps develop technicians under their guidance.

In this role you will be working in clearance required facilities:

  • Lead teams of installers on assigned tasks
  • Contribute in all phases of the infrastructure installation or upgrade
  • Pulling and dressing of fiber optic and copper cables.
  • Installation of racks and all peripheral equipment
  • Rack and Stacking of equipment in racks
  • Termination of copper cable up to CAT6A and SM/MM Fiber single strand to MPO/MTP
  • Solving issues related to cables and networks
  • Testing and recording of all cables


Clearance – Must have an Active and Current DoD Secret Level Security Clearance

Educational Requirement 

  • An Associate’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or
    Information Technology or equivalent industry experience
  • Completion of four (8) years of U.S. military service with one of the following technical ratings – Cable Systems Installer/Maintainer Course, Electronics Technician with Advanced Training, Interior Communication (IC) with Advanced Training, Information System Technician (IT), Radioman (RM) (legacy rating), or Data System Technician (DS) (legacyrating)
  • Completion of a formal two year or more contractor apprenticeship in a related field that included at least six months of formal classroom training that addressed electrical circuit theory, electromagnetic radiation, and other disciplines related to C4ISR installations

Certification Requirements

  • Preference given to candidates with current BICSI ITS Installer 2 Copper or Fiber certification (or equivalent) and CPR certificate
  • ITS Technician Credential (Requires item b above (Installer 2 Credential))
  • Current AVIXA CTS certification

Experience Requirements


  • At least 15 years of experience in leading and managing install teams, installing, and troubleshooting issues related to secure/non-secure voice, video, data, and radio frequency cable infrastructure.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

  • Work will be performed inside a large government facility.
  • Work assignments vary based on client requirements.
  • Outside work may include various environmental conditions including hot, dusty, cold, icy, and windy climates.

Physical Requirements

  • May require climbing, working at heights and in small confined spaces such as under raised floors, inside closets and server racks.
  • Must be able to sit, stoop, kneel or crouch for long periods of time. Work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperature than standard office environmental conditions.
  • Lift and transport equipment up to 50 pounds.

Equipment and Machines

  • General office equipment, which includes telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
  • Copper and Fiber Termination equipment, Copper and Fiber Test Equipment
  • Operating hand tools, power tools, ladders, and test equipment.
  • May require operating motor vehicles.


  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is mandatory.
  • It is important to be able to work any shift/designated hours required.
  • You may be asked to continue performance during inclement weather or other conditions when others are not permitted to work
  • Position may require night and weekend work and could include travel

Other Essential Functions


  • Employment is contingent upon obtaining all required certifications within the timeframe specified in a waiver by the government (if applicable) and maintaining required certifications through the duration of the contract. Failure to obtain/maintain required certifications will result in disqualification for this position and could result in termination.
  • Candidate must exhibit a professional behavior that promotes teamwork, fosters cooperation, and enhances productivity in the workplace. Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to work effectively with a variety of government, military, and contractor personnel at all levels.
  • Candidate must be able to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Grooming and dress must not pose a safety hazard to employees working in the same general area.
  • The position for which you are applying for requires a US government security clearance.   • Must have reliable transportation to Peterson Air Force Base
