Job Title:  Security Engineer II

Job Description

 

In the Security Engineer II role you will:

 

Monitor, evaluate, and maintain systems and procedures to protect all LAN based systems from unauthorized access or vulnerabilities. Identify potential threats and respond to reported security violations. Determine causes of security incidents and research, recommend, and implement changes to procedures to protect data from future violations. Assist in educating users on security procedures.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Conducts periodic scans of networks to find vulnerabilities or possible intrusions.
  • Provide support for incident response activities to minimize the impact of incident or breach. Provide support for technical and forensic investigation into how the incident happened and the extent of the damage. Assist in preparation of documentation on incident findings to be reported to management.
  • Provide security monitoring and review of information system audit records for indications of inappropriate or unusual activity using both SIEM and manual processes
  • Works with Information Technology to ensure maintenance of key IA systems is performed.
  • Provide IT team assistance in the development of computer security architecture and developing detailed security design enhancements for database systems.
  • Assesse and review vulnerability scans to assist the IT department in maintaining a secure environment.
  • Ensure that the POA&M is accurate, up-to-date, and readily available.
  • Provide security and system document writing and review pertaining to the FRTIB Operations Center contract including procedures, policies, plans and incident reports.
  • Assist with ISSO directed tasks as needed in support of the FRTIB Operations Center Contract.
  • Respond to alert notifications and performs escort duties as required.
  • Assist with background investigation and on-boarding/off boarding processes as required.
  • Perform physical security and clean desk audits as required.

Qualifications: 

 

To be successful in this roll, you will have:

Bachelor`s degree and 2-4 years

Candidates may substitute a degree with experience in security engineering field and or security based certifications.
