Position Description

As the, Marine Electrician II, you will work as part of a team providing a variety of tasks to include inspection, repairs, installs, modifies, and maintains electrical/electronic systems, circuits, and equipment onboard U.S. Naval Ships and Military Installations.

 

 

As the, Engineering Technician II, you will perform the following typical tasks:

 

 

  • Apply your knowledge in regards standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of electronics repair, fabrication, and installation and rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Rely on comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.
  • Work with the interrelationships of circuits and judge the planned work sequence and in selecting tools and testing instruments.
  • Receive technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, and have your work reviewed for compliance with accepted practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and supervision to lower level technicians.
  • Perform a variety of tasks to include inspection, repairs, installs, modifies, and maintains electrical/electronic systems, circuits, and equipment.
  • Install and un-crate electronic equipment, ducts, cableways, cables, high density cable connectors, RF cable connectors, waveguide, fiber connectors and antennas.
  • Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, manuals, handbooks, and technical specifications.
  • Perform a safe work environment

 

Qualifications

Requirements, Qualifications, Certifications:

 

  • Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent and have 2-4 or more years of experience in the field or in a related area per the job description list above and an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty, or military training may apply.
  • Must be able to pass an Employee Background Investigation (EBI)
  • Must be able to pass a 5 Panel Drug Test
  • Must be able to provide technical guidance and supervision to lower level technicians.
  • Must be certified in “Multi-pin” Connectors IAW MIL-STD-20035A(SA), MIL-STD-2042B Fiber Optic, and be proficient NAVSEA Standards Items to include 009-22 & 009-73  and  must have a general understanding of NAVSEA Manual S0400-AD-URM-010/TUM Rev 06 (Tag Out Users).
  • Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of electronics repair, fabrication, and installation. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Must have familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence and in selecting tools and testing instruments.
  • Must be able to work remotely which will involve extensive travel, and may require after normal duty hours
  • This position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require Serco to staff it only with U.S. Citizens
  • Must be proficient in NAVSEA WAF (Work Authorization Forms) procedures.
  • Work is performed onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations and requires the ability to work in areas with drafts, noise, and temperature variation.
  • Must be able to work in high heat spaces, climb shipyard dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position for layout of cable runs under false decking, lift up to 50 pounds with 80% of work requiring carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 40 pounds for majority of shift while being in a standing, crouching, or walking position.
  • Must be able to demonstrate your attention to safety awareness.

 

Preferred Experience: 

  • 1 to 2 years of Experience Traveling for work
  • A DoD Secret Security Clearance
