Position Description

Serco is seeking a candidate to support Serco’s efforts to assist EPA in the area of estimating human exposure to chemicals, pointing toward risk assessment.


This position is contingent of your ability to obtain a Public Trust level clearance.


In this role, you will:

  • Review and evaluation of existing models, modifying existing models, and/or development of new models, as well as development of input data sets, execution/evaluation of model runs, and preparation of results including visualization.
  • Maintenance of models and their associated data bases will be required.
  • Models are expected to be primarily stochastic, microenvironmental, multipathway, and based on time-activity patterns with a focus on inhalation exposure and may address single or multiple chemicals. However, some model work may include multimedia and/or deterministic modeling.
  • The models will likely address both overall exposure and exposure to different subgroups (e. g., gender, age categories). 


To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant  experience is required.  
  • Current or able to obtain for a clearance (Public Trust)
  • Facility/experience with multiple programming languages and software packages and/or the ability to learn additional ones is very desirable.
  • Statistical data analysis and risk assessment experience are beneficial attributes.
  • In addition, facility with Microsoft Office products (e. g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access) will be useful. Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively within a team environment are necessary.

Desired experience:3-4 years of experience with these model types is highly preferred, as is experience with Fortran.

  • Master’s and Ph. D. level applicants  are preferred.
