Serco Inc. is seeking a highly motivated individual with a technical background in Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) software programming to join our Maritime Engineering, Technology and Sustainment (METS) team providing primary support to Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) along secondary support to commands such as Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) in San Diego, CA. This position supports a broad portfolio of Autonomous Maritime System (AMS) programs in the Panama City, FL/NSWC PCD geographic region onboard a fast growing local team.

This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain / maintain an active clearance.

This requirement is to develop Enterprise and Standalone applications for Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Panama City Division (PCD). You will report for a normal 40 hr. work week to customer facilities onsite NSWC PCD. Will work with Java, Web frameworks, Geospatial Information Systems and Relational Databases


In this role, you will:

  • Define specifications for UUV software programming applications and oversees the maintenance of existing UUV programs to ensure continued performance and compliance with current guidelines and standards.
  • Work independently with direction from the Govt. customer to ensure daily requirements are upheld.
  • Possess a strong knowledge of a variety of software development environments used for UUVs.
  • Have the ability to perform software tests/investigate and provide clarification to the team about how the software works in order to assist them in development efforts.
  • Possess the ability to lead a team of developers and collaborate with Govt. peers.
  • Assist with defining specifications for software programming applications and/or oversees the maintenance of existing programs to ensure continued performance and compliance with current guidelines and standards.
  • Perform all necessary aspects of the programming phase of software development including coding, testing, debugging and documenting using current guidelines and standards.
  • Develop architecture requirements and performance standards to meet customer specifications.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned


To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline plus 8 to 10 years of directly related experience related to UUV software programming. 
  • Must be eligible to obtain / maintain an active clearance (US Citizenship is required)
  • Ability to work effectively in both independent and team environments
  • Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, and at all levels of sponsor/customer/corporate organizations
