Position Description

If you are looking for a fast-paced job supporting the development of future autonomous vessels then this position is for you! In this job you will be part of the Serco VOYAGER team developing a new autonomous vessel for the DARPA NOMARS program. You may also support other ship design programs for USCG, US Navy, and foreign military customers.

 

The VOYAGER team is a distributed team of ~20 people working mainly in New London and DC offices led by Nate Miller. In the New London office you would report to Dr. Gregory Johnson who has been supporting USCG and Navy customers in the areas of electrical engineering, communications, and electronic navigation for 20 years.

 

In this role you will:

  • Assist with the design of the machinery control system (MCS) for an autonomous vessel.
  • Assist with integrating the MCS into the advanced autonomous health monitoring system.
  • Assist with programming the MCS for installation on the vessel.
  • Assist with developing the test protocols and methodologies for testing the systems post-installation.
  • Particiapte in testing the systems during pier-side and at-sea testing.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role you must have:

  • Secret clearance (or be able to receive one).
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical, Systems, Mechanical, or Marine Engineering .
  • Up to two years relavant work experience.
  • Experience with programming PLC-based controllers such as Siemens, AB, or Rockwell.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming languages.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Experience with shipboard machinery control systems.
  • Experience working on Navy or Coast Guard vessels.
  • Experience supporting Navy or DoD customers.
