Position Description

This Strategic Communications lead will be part of a dynamic team supporting major systems acquisition, research and engineering on behalf of the Office of the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon and Mark Center officers in nearby Alexandria, Virginia. Customer and Mission: Serco has engineering and program management contracts supporting the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (USD (R&E) and the Office of Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (USD A&S). Our subject matter experts shape program engineering and acquisition strategies and plans; technology maturation strategies; mission analyses; systems engineering and integration reviews; technical risk mitigation; Joint requirements development; and inform acquisition milestones and modernization investment decisions.


Team and Management Information: You will be part of a team responsible for highly consequential engagements with stakeholders impacting national security and the defense capabilities of the United States. You will work closely with customers and other Serco teams to deliver quality solutions recognized by DoD and industry as outstanding contributions in engineering program and risk management across the Defense enterprise.

In this position you will:

  • Develop, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate executive level directed communications and outreach strategies related to the OUSD (R&E) Test & Evaluation vision and initiatives
  • Develop and the review communication products for clarity, effectiveness, and alignment with executive level guidance; Communication products includes will include printed material, website material, congressional responses, public affairs material, and outreach engagements with the Services and Industry


To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • An active DoD Secret security clearance
  • Bachelors of Arts or Bachelors of Science degree in degree in Journalism, English, or Communications
  • Minimum of 5 years of strategic communication experience
