Position Description

Serco-NA has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Business Development supporting our Acquisition, Program Management & Logistics (APM&L) business.  This position will report directly to the BD VP for APM&L.  Primary responsibility is to identify and develop opportunities for business expansion. Develop and align marketing strategies with strategic focus and proposes long range business plans.

 

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Win Strategy formulation, capture execution, and proposal development for large pursuits.
  • Identify and close on new business in Modeling, Simulation & Training (MS&T) and Advisory & Assistance Services (A&AS).
  • Support business pipeline reviews and metric assessments to include pipeline metrics, Win/Loss rates, Submits/Awards, and Marketing.
  • Identify new winnable opportunities in the US Navy, US Air Force, US Army, USMC and internationally.
  • Increase size of the business bid pipeline.
  • Close on existing pipeline opportunities.
  • Work with ideal partners for new work (prime and sub) to increase Pwin and increase Serco participation on team(s).
  • Identify international opportunities and run them through review for linkage to Serco Inc. strategy.
  • Perform the duties of interim PM where necessary.
  • Convert capture strategies and execution into proposal writing (both pre-RFP and post-RFP).

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

 

Strong business development background in successfully selling services (A&AS and MS&T preferred) to the US DoD.

 

You will use your ability to lead and support the pursuit of major bid activities and must be a team player who knows how to create and manage the synergy among business development, operations, capture management, and proposal functions.  

 

Essential Skills and Capabilities:

 

  • Bachelor`s Degree in a business or technical major. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Must have at least 5 years successfully selling support services to one or more of the military services.
  • 10-12 years’ experience in business development in the services environment.
  • Experience in A&AS and MS&T preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the leadership team on new ideas and pursuits.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering growth (contract wins with impact, book-to-bill rate exceeding 120%, new business win rate greater than 25%, substantial proposal submission volume, pipelines managed at 10x business size).
  • Must have highly effective interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Successful legacy of meeting/exceeding goals for consecutive years.
