Serco, Inc. has an immediate need for a manual Test Engineer - Mid Level supporting our Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) program in Herndon, VA. Serco supports CMS, a federal agency within the United States Department of Health and Human Services that administers the Medicare program and works in partnership with state governments to continue supporting eligibility determinations for consumers purchasing health insurance through the Federal Health Insurance Exchanges.

In this role you will:

  • Design and implement test and evaluation strategies in Waterfall & Agile workflow.
  • Develop and execute test cases, test scripts, test plans, and test scenarios for all applicable requirements.
  • Interface with software developers and other technical team members to review system requirements and construct executive test strategies.
  • Create test reports that detail all of the activities conducted during the testing period and a detailed summary of all test results.
  • Collaborate with automated test engineers to identify manual regression tests that are candidates for automation.
  • Contribute to the entire software development life cycle from initial business requirements to deployment and production support.
  • Assist technical STA during project testing efforts including systems, functional, regression, integration and performance testing.
  • Run test validations at various levels including DB validation, logging validation, and UI validation.
  • Perform both new functional and regression tests; identify, analyze and report issues for follow-up.
  • Document and prioritize defects and work with the team to resolve.
  • Analyze the business requirements and identify gaps.
  • Execute smoke tests before each code drop to confirm that the environment setup/configuration is correct and appropriate to start testing.

 

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field and 5 years of related experience
  • Experience with Complex data validation, data flow, and database testing (SQL, Microsoft SQL server)
  • Experience with Test Data Generation
  • Experience with web Service testing including the use of Postman, REST API Testing
  • Experience with test plan, procedure, report generation and maintenance
  • Experience with Functional/Regression Testing
  • Experiene with Identifying, verifying and reporting defects, JIRA, TestRail;
  • Root cause analysis experience
  • Experience analyzing requirements and identifying test scenarios /test cases
  • Requirements Traceability Matrix experience
  • Waterfall and Agile methodology experience.

 

Additional desired skills and experience:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field and 2 years of related experience
