Position Description

As a AWS Cloud Network Engineer with Serco, you will use your Microsoft Azure and AWS cloud as well as your DevOps expertise to help Serco North America and our public sector customers solve challenging problems through innovative technology solutions. The AWS Cloud Network Engineer will provide architecture level support, engineering, and automation development activities to integrate, migrate, and maintain existing cloud infrastructure. The AWS Cloud Network Engineer will also provide mentorship and training of existing staff.


In this role, you will: 

  • Works in tandem with our solutions architects and systems engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the company and its customers
  • Develop and implement capabilities to reduce time to delivery of platforms through orchestration and automation
  • Manage Serco’s cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines
  • Deploy and debug cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle
  • Automate repetitive, manually time-consuming O&M tasks
  • Educate and mentor system engineering team on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required.
  • Employ exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they cascade into problems.
  • Using your extensive knowledge of APIs to design RESTful services, and integrate them with existing data providers, using JSON or XML as needed.
  • Stay current with industry trends, making recommendations as needed to help the company excel.


To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field and 5-7 years of related experience. 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Must be able to work on-call.
  • Deep understanding of MS Azure/AWS security best practices
  • Experience Implementing security appliances such as Load Balancing (F5), Firewalls (Checkpoint, Palo Alto, AWS/Azure Native Firewalls)
  • Expertise of network segmentation using technologies such as NSG’s, NSX’s
  • Expertise of DISA STIGS, and NIST controls and how that is governed in the cloud infrastructure
  • Expertise of HIPS/FIPS controls and how that is governed in the cloud infrastructure
  • Expertise of Hybrid connectivity to allow Cloud and internal architectures to connect
  • Expertise of boundary security
  • Experience in implementing automation in Cloud environments
  • Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks
  • Ability to mentor and train internal technical teams
  • Experience with Cloud Architecture and design
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be knowledgeable with Microsoft/AWS cloud technologies, both from the IT infrastructure and IT applications perspective.
  • Must be a self-starter, quick learner of new technology (virtual infrastructure, containers, databases etc.), and be highly motivated.
  • Excellent customer facing interaction skills
  • US Citizenship Required

In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $92,144.00 to $147,056.00; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
