JOB TITLE: Senior Engineer


PROJECT OVERVIEW: “This position is contingent upon contract award”


Serco is seeking a dynamic Senior Engineer to support Serco provides developmental test & evaluation, and systems engineering products and services to the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering. The Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (OUSD [RE]) Advanced Capabilities requires a Senior Engineer who is an expert at developing technical solutions to complex and challenging problems impacting Defense major systems acquisition programs. This team of problem solvers supports OSD to mentor programs on best practices and assess risk, versus hands on development. 



  • Leads major project technical tasks using formal engineering practices and quality control methods
    • Experience leading and performing Systems Engineering (SE) tasks including development and analysis of complex engineering and test strategies; technology and risk assessments; performance/capability assessments; and kill chain analysis of complex weapon systems to define capability gaps and assess performance
  • Interprets requirements and design specifications, analyzes alternatives, and creates a solution, and supports integration and testing
    • Exercises independent judgment and initiative solving problems and performing technical tasks having a high degree of complexity
    • Manages and coordinates the efforts of other staff
    • Directly interfaces with government and is adept at oral and written communication at all levels of management to maintain control of assigned programs and projects


To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

  • Active Top Secret security clearance
  • Bachelors degree in a scientific or other applicable technical or analytical discipline
  • Twenty (20) or more years within the specified technical discipline
  • Experience with the Defense Adaptive Acquisition Framework (AAF) through direct program engagement in:
    • Technical assessments and reviews (including Independent Technical Risk Assessments, design reviews, and sufficiency performance assessments)
    • Engineering and test
    • Requirements, Systems Engineering, and acquisition documentation reviews
    • Integrated product team and Defense Acquisition Board support
    • Cybersecurity

Additional desired skills and qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a scientific or other applicable technical or analytical discipline
  • Experience interfacing with Joint Staff, Services, and warfighters to coordinate engineering and analysis needs and analytic results
  • Expertise: planning, conducting, and/or managing Defense acquisition program technical assessments in one or more warfighting domains (for example – air warfare; land warfare; naval warfare; space systems; missile systems; Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR)/ Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) Systems)
