The Mid-Level Network Engineer to assist in the development and maintenance of network communications, by using knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help plan and install internal and external networks.

 

This is a temporary position. 

 

In this role, you will:

  • Test and evaluate network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.
  • Lead network Service Restoration Team (SRT) in the event of network trouble and outages.
  • Security management including firewall rule implementation, resolving network vulnerabilities, monitoring logs and performing security tests.
  • Network wireless troubleshooting and configuration. Maintaining performance and security of all SSID’s.
  • Deploy new hardware at local and remote sites. These deployments include removal of legacy hardware and deploying new systems while updating network documentation.
  • Incidence response – respond and troubleshoot all aspects of network issues including cabling, connectivity issues, login problems and network performance.
  • Network switching management, troubleshooting, configuration and monitoring.
  • Network firewall management, troubleshooting, configuration and monitoring.
  • Network router management, troubleshooting, configuration and monitoring.
  • Network data flow analysis including monitoring software (SolarWinds), traffic flow, data captures and understanding packet capture software (Wireshark)
  • Network IP management including managing IPAM software and identifying all subnets at Serco sites and data centers.
  • Documentation of all aspects of Serco-Na network including mastering VISIO and understanding design documentation.
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. 

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree and 5-7 years of related experience (9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree).
  • Understanding of load balancing including configuration of F5 load balancer and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
  • Understanding of network WAN design and the different topologies which exist in the environment.
  • The ability to be on-call and be expected for network issues and troubleshooting urgent network issues. Deployment of new hardware at times will take place off hours and will be expected a times.
  • Understanding of network escalation processes and use these processes in the event of network outages.
  • Familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience troubleshooting Layer-2/3 protocols for example, VLANs, VRRP, OSPF, BGP, ISIS, IPv4/6, ARP, RIP, N AT, and Layer-4 protocols (TCP, UDP).
  • Thorough understanding of application protocols, HTTP, SSL, FTP, SMTP, RTSP, SIP, Diameter, and DNS.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organization skills.

Additional desired skills and experience:

  • Experience with Palo Alto firewalls, network security, and F5 Load Balancers is preferred.

In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $106,177.50 to $176,962.50; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
