AEGIS/C4I Systems Engineer


As the AEGIS/C4I Systems Engineer with Serco, you will be a part of a dynamic team supporting the Navy’s premier shipbuilding program located at Serco’s Washington, D.C. location. You WILL be expected to bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military defense and safety of our sailors.


In this role, you will:

  • Provide expertise, support, and analysis for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) Systems by assisting in the coordination of Combat Systems specific events and tests in support of Acceptance and Final Contract Trials and Post-Shakedown Availability planning activities.
  • Track spectrum certification requirements and land-based and underway test events and trials related to C4I.
  • Compile and analyze reports related to shipboard inspections, certifications, assessments, and sea trials.
  • Coordinate and support the resolution of specific issues within the technical community and maintain direct interface with Participating Acquisition Resource Managers.
  • Be familiar with US Navy shipboard operations, particularly AEGIS Combat and C4I systems supporting Strike Group operations and Integrated Air and Missile Defense missions.
  • Provide management and planning services for Test & Evaluation, technical reviews, engineering design recommendations for space changes and shipyard waterfront support.
  • Provide technical review, analysis, and oversight for proposed Combat System and C4I changes such as ICPs, ECPs, and SHIPALTs to determine technical and programmatic impacts; provide recommend course of actions on shipbuilding systems engineering issues.
  • Provide direct support researching, planning, budgeting, evaluating, coordinating, and executing test/trial activities for Combat Systems and C4I integration.
  • Interface with multiple stakeholders and cross functional teams to ensure necessary resources are available for implementing and sustaining ship C4I systems.
  • Participate in Combat Systems and C4I technical, configuration management and logistics (PARMs, Design Reviews, TDPs, Change Boards, AEGIS Topside Working Group, etc.) meetings.



To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience with AEGIS Combat System (ACS), including five (5) or more years’ experience with Afloat C4I Systems serving aboard surface combatants in a technical position.
  • Knowledge of Navy shipbuilding, Combat and C4I systems, and systems integration.
  • Experience developing executive level presentations using MS Office products.
  • A current or active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Experience serving aboard AEGIS combatants in a technical management role. Weapons centers, training stations, testing facilities, MDA, and/or OPNAV experience is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of the DDG51 Shipbuilding Program and/or OPNAV staff is highly desired.
  • Combat Systems Officer of the Watch (CSOOW) and Combat Systems Coordinator (CSC) experience preferred.
  • Ability to write clear and concise technical correspondence to document technical reviews, collating stakeholder comments, and providing technical recommendations. Self-guided and articulate in oral and written presentations, possessing organizational skills to facilitate technical discussion, and the ability to multi-task to meet deadlines.
