Position Description

Serco has a great opportunity for you to take an advancing role in supporting U.S. Navy acquisition programs for cutting edge systems and sensors! 

 

Join an integrated government-industry team in and around the historic Washington Navy Yard right by Nationals Stadium. Be instrumental to the support of defense acquisitions while building your professional background and expertise in support of the world’s greatest Navy.

Serco will provide technical support to its customer, a defense acquisition program management office which is responsible for the development, acquisition, production, fielding, and lifetime support of critical Navy systems.  This systems engineering position has aspects of requirements development and updating, tracking of system performance issues and resolution, coordinating systems engineering team deliverables, and provide liason support to government and industry stakeholders. 

In this role you will:

  • Provide direct support to the Lead System Engineer
  • Provide proactive systems engineering assistance to include requirements generation for radar systems/subsystems
  • Develop and update requirements (e.g., Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) management)
  • Coordinate the Advance Radars Local Configuration Control Board (LCCB) ensuring programmatic Configuration Management Process is operating according to DoD and Navy Standards
  • Provide liaison support independently representing the radar team to stakeholders across government and industry
  • Ability to work from the Washington Navy Yard area at least 10% of time for meetings and other tasks. A hybrid work environment is allowed and some travel (<5%) may be required.
  • Ability to work part-time (<10%) from NSWC Dahlgren
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Active Secret clearance required 
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other related technical degree with 8-10 yrs of experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated systems engineering and programmatic support experience in an acquisition program office.
  • Ability to operate in a highly dynamic environment with a wide variety of programmatic/technical challenges.
  • Well-developed team communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, Demonstrated forward thinking and proactive problem-solving skills.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • A Master’s of Science degree in an Engineering discipline 
  • Radar experience
  • Experience working in an acquisition program office environment with documentation, protocols, formats, and deadlines
  • Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and take on responsibility
