We have developed a Talent Pool of very talented Systems Administrators to support the U.S. Space Force as a prime for two programs: Space Fence and Ground-Based Electro-Optical Deep Space Surveillance (GEODSS). About these two Programs:

  • The Space Fence system is a second-generation ground-based S-Band radar space surveillance system, strengthening U.S. space superiority through improved Space Domain Awareness (SDA) by providing 24x7 services to manage, operate, maintain, and provide logistical and general support. 
  • The GEODDS system supports the U.S. Strategic Command and theater war fighters’ requirements through the detection and surveillance of deep space satellites using one-meter telescopes that are equipped with highly sensitive digital camera technology. The GEODSS system detects, tracks, identifies, and reports on all deep-space man-made objects in the Earth’s orbit.

 

About our Systems Administrator (OCONUS) Role:

Your future career as a Systems Administrator will administer and manage Space Fence or GEODSS information systems, IT equipment, mission system software, communications/ security equipment and TEMPEST systems; perform contingency operator duties when SOC is unavailable.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Perform system administration support for all assigned systems and manage the cybersecurity of the Mission System and information systems on a regular basis.
  • Audit logging and reviewing, account management, incident response, DISA Security Technical and Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance, Army and Air Force policy, and other requirements-related accreditation or authorization documents.
  • Operate, maintain, repair, and restore the Mission System software and equipment to meet Acc and mission requirements.
  • Maintain data processing software, database, and system files; perform software installation and system reconfiguration and maintain associated documentation.
  • Provide communications and networking support.
  • Update and maintain documentation on Mission System software and site-adaptable parameters integrating changes as required to reflect the current operational and support baseline.
  • Implement and maintain a Mission System Assessment Report (SAR) to document SA support activities.
  • Assist sustainment personnel as required in identifying and isolating faulty systems or subsystems.
  • Ensure servers, workstations, and communications devices are backed up for catastrophic recovery.
  • Accomplish server backups prior to any software version release or hardware upgrade.
  • Report system threats, vulnerabilities, and security incidents. Implement security patches and updates. 
  • Perform system analysis to determine factors and causes of system performance issues.
  • Perform TEMPEST activities as required by contract.
  • Perform primary or alternate supply system duties.
  • Perform contingency radar operator duties as required.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • The ability to obtain/maintain/transfer your Active Security clearance (Secret). 
  • Be a U.S. Citizen.
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a field relating to Computer Science. 
  • A minimum 2 years of experience in Systems Administration software and hardware support.
  • Experience with LINUX and Windows operating systems.
  • Prior military communications experience.
  • A physical exam is required as a contingency upon offer. 

 Additional desired experience and skills:

  • A CompTIA Security + CE or Cisco CCNA Security; RedHat Linux certification; or Microsoft Windows certification.

In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary range for this role is $76,172.06 to $126,953.43; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
