Position Description

The Senior Engineer for Joint Fires will be part of a dynamic team supporting major systems acquisition, research and engineering on behalf of the Office of the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon and Mark Center offices in nearby Alexandria, Virginia.  Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make a positive impact on the security of our nation! 

 

Serco supports the Multi-Domain Joint Operations (MDJO) for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)). The mission of MDJO organization is to identify and transition technologies that close time-critical gaps in high-priority, multi-component warfighting missions.  

 

You will work closely with customers and other Serco teams to deliver quality solutions, recognized by DoD and industry as outstanding contributions in engineering program and risk management across the Defense enterprise.  You will support the senior-executive Director for Multi-Domain Joint Operations (MDJO) in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD (R&E)). 

In the Senior Engineer for Joint Fires role, you will:

  • Provide subject-matter expertise in warfighting technologies and capabilities for Joint Fires
  • Deliver technical assessments and analysis to provide recommended innovative approaches, technologies, and capabilities to address critical joint warfighting capability gaps
  • Provide technical analysis and advice to inform capability requirements development and validation through the JCIDS process
  • Provide technical expertise to inform mission engineering studies, prototype development, experimentation, and global integrated wargaming
  • Collaborate with Service, Joint Staff, and OSD stakeholders to support the transition of technologies from prototypes and joint experimentation activities to Service programs of record
  • Prepare and deliver reports and briefings to DoD leadership

Qualifications

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • An active DoD Top Secret (TS) clearance
  • A Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field
  • 15 years or more of relevant work experience
  • Executive presence with highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop high-quality, professional briefings and written reports to succinctly capture key issues for DoD decision-makers
  • Self-starter, able to take initiative and accomplish work independently with minimal guidance
  • Must be highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Experience leading the planning and execution of complex engineering and systems analysis efforts for the DoD and/or IC
  • Technical expertise in Electronic Warfare or any other aspect of Joint Fires
  • Operational experience with kinetic weapons/platforms, EW & non-kinetic effects, and/or defensive capabilities

 Desirable skill to be successful in this role:

  • JCIDS experience working with the Joint Staff in the military requirements process
