Position Description

 You will be working with a dynamic, innovative team, supporting the SSN(X) Office.  Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact, not only in our military defense and safety of our sailors, but in acquisition of this new class of vessel. The Team Submarine concept unifies a once diverse submarine set of related activities into a single submarine-centric organization with the objecting of eliminating traditional structures and processes that creates impediments and inefficiencies for within research, development, acquisition, and maintenance communities. 

 

Serco-NA is seeking a motivated individual to provide specialized and strategic programmatic direction for our NAVSEA customers in the future attack submarine programs.  This Position will be critical in ensuring that the program meets all acquisition milestones. 

 

Serco will provide technical support to its customer, a defense acquisition program management office which is responsible for the development, acquisition, production, fielding, and lifetime support of critical surface ship systems. This senior-level position has aspects of defense acquisition management, contract management, financial management, and other related acquisition skills.

Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Be the recognized authority in advanced principles of acquisition management and lead a team in applying knowledge and expertise in acquisition program management to specified programs throughout their life cycles.
  • Be well-versed in the defense acquisition process and areas relating to acquisition policy and best practices including acquisition streamlining and be able to apply that knowledge and experience in executing actual programs.
  • Be knowledgeable in new acquisition practices such as rapid acquisition, DEV/SEC/OPS, use of collaboration tools, and data analytics in support of the program office.
  • Manage schedules and plans of action related to system acquisition. Support may include program and milestone reviews, budget management, coordination with higher-level acquisition and sponsor organizations under program office leadership, and coordination with Fleet support organizations on behalf of the program office.
  • Support program office tasking related to acquiring complex Naval systems. Work will require coordinating and collaboration with staff from the program office, other contractors, system developer/manufacturer, and government field activities or labs.
  • Support senior government personnel and project managers in various acquisition and management activities related to design, product development, test, production, or in-service support. Assist in program office management of projects, tracking progress against schedules, managing acquisition tasking and funding of supporting organizations, driving and coordinating accomplishment of actions, coordinating the development of proposed solutions to issues, managing risk, supporting meetings, and providing critical analysis of acquisition processes and progress on behalf of the government program management office.
  • Provide immediate supervision and guidance to less experienced team members and help guide your integrated team to most-effectively accomplish program office tasking.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications, Education and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Knowledge of defense acquisition principles and practices.
  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of related experience.
  • Advanced internal team communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Secret Security Clearance Required for consideration
  • 10% travel Required.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Work experience may be adjusted based on an advanced degree. Degree requirements may be adjusted based on additional related experience, highly specialized knowledge, or uniquely applicable experience.
  • Previous government program office experience desired. Experience in ship systems, sensors, combat systems, or C4I systems desired.
