Join Serco in support of our Defense Service sector and Systems Integration and Installation Business Unit as a Quality Assurance & Safety Specialist for Ship/Submarine/Shore C5ISR production, installation, integration and testing in the SI2 Business Unit.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for quality control and quality and safety surveillance of all activities involving safety and quality assurance to ensure compliance with Serco’s Quality Management System and applicable regulatory requirements as directed.
  • Develop, update and audit quality assurance QA workbooks and associated objective quality evidence.
  • Perform documented surveillances on workmanship quality, safety, and compliance to personal and equipment safety requirements.
  • Conducts Quality Process internal audits, reviews/analyzes data and documentation, and completes audit reports and complete other quality control record keeping and training duties as directed.
  • Be responsible for NDT Level II inspections and documentation.
  • Be willing and able to conduct safety inspections and walkthroughs in Industrial environments (e.g. ships/submarines in shipyards)
  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to planned accomplish goals.
  • May lead and direct the work of others.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.
  • Strong desire to excel in the Quality Assurance and Safety field with the ability to rapidly adapt to dynamic scenarios.
  • Candidate must possess and provide documented Shipyard and Shipboard Installation, Quality Assurance and Safety experience.
  • Must be able to initiate Incident reports, corrective actions and implement solution. Excellent organizational and time management skills are required.
  • Must be able to document experience and accept increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Must be familiar with NAVSEA Standard Items and QA and Safety requirements as delineated in TS 9090-310 is required.
  • Able to track milestones for government tasks and planning.
  • Provide Daily/Weekly status reports.
  • Must possess outstanding communication skills (both verbal and written) and ability to build rapport with internal and external customers.
  • Candidate must be able to contribute to drafting Quality, Safety, and Environmental procedures, perform root cause analysis, conduct technical research, and respond to internal and external Corrective Action Requests (CARs).

Qualifications

 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • U.S. citizenship and pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain/maintain/transfer your Secret clearance and gain and maintain access to US Govt. facilities and private Shipyards.
  • Requires a High School diploma/GED with 6-8 experience in the field or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2-4 years of experience in the maritime industry.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain DBIDS/CAC for access to Government facilities, US Government.
  • Candidates must have experience supporting U.S. Navy Systems Commands.
  • Candidates must have at least 5 years of shipboard/submarine experience as NDT Level II inspector.
  • Ability to travel 25%.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office applications (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook) required.
  • Must be able to work on ships, submarines, at a variety of shore locations, as well as in an industrial fabrication shop and office environment.
  • Must be able to initiate Incident reports, corrective actions and implement solution. Excellent organizational and time management skills are required.

  • Candidate must be able to contribute to drafting Quality, Safety, and Environmental procedures, perform root cause analysis, conduct technical research, and respond to internal and external Corrective Action Requests (CARs).
  • Play a critical role in ensuring the successful monitoring of safety compliance issues and report discrepancies by Investigating incidents, aid with development and completion of corrective actions and prepare applicable reports.
  • Demonstrate experience with monitoring safety compliance issues and report discrepancies found though on site/on ship Safety walkthroughs.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations related to Safety and Hazardous Materials
    • OSHA 5410 - Standards for Maritime Industry
    • OSHA 3095 - Electrical Standards
    • OSHA 3115 - Fall Protection
    • OSHA 521 - Industrial Hygiene
  • Utilize your OSHA, and other applicable courses and be familiar with standard NAVSEA, OSHA, ANSI and EPA standard concepts, practices, and procedures to promote Serco-NA Safety ZERO HARM program.
  • Exhibit a strong understanding of safety best practices with your experience and judgement to plan and accomplish and accomplish goals.
  • Work effectively, independently as well as part of a large diverse team.
  • Possible travel up to 10% of the time.

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • OSHA-10 Maritime trained.
  • Familiar with NAVSEA Standard Items and the SIPH.
  • Process Control Procedure (PCP) development in accordance with NAVSEA Standard Item.
  • Knowledge of 29 CFR and 40 CFR.
  • Valid US passport preferred.
