Your leads have more than 25 years of ship building and 3D design experience. The team is known for the quality and completeness of all design requirements and deliverables.  In this role you will be working in a face paced, team based, multi-disciplined environment, while collaborating with others. The Senior 2D/3D Designer/Drafter will contribute to the creation or revisions of 3D or 2D functional or detail/production models or drawings for ship, vessel and boat design/fabrication. You will be working for a Design Lead or may be in a Design Lead position that works closely with the customer and other Serco teams to deliver quality systems.  To be considered for this roll as a Senior Designer you will: - Be a Marine Draftsperson/Designer with three to eight years of 3D modeling design or 2D drafting experience in marine environments. - Have a College Diploma or higher education in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering or similar marine technical field. - Applicants that do not possess a Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering or similar diploma specifically should have 10 or more years drafting/design experience in one or a combination of the three disciplines outlined in the Position Description above. Experience with commercial vessel or Coast Guard or Naval type vessels (expertise with functional design transitioning to production design and/or experience with unit/block build strategy production design is an asset).- Be able to demonstrate proficiency in the use of AutoCAD (2D and 3D) and Navisworks. In the New London office you would report to Dr. Gregory Johnson who has been supporting USCG and Navy customers in the areas of electrical engineering, communications, and electronic navigation for 20 years. In this role you will:- Assist with the design of the machinery control system (MCS) for an autonomous vessel.- Assist with integrating the MCS into the advanced autonomous health monitoring system.- Assist with programming the MCS for installation on the vessel.- Assist with developing the test protocols and methodologies for testing the systems post-installation.- Particiapte in testing the systems during pier-side and at-sea testing.
