Analyze shipyard production practices, track overall progress, and maintain regular surveillance over main and auxiliary machinery installations, interfaces, and testing. Serco supports the US Navy in acquisition of the Navy’s newest Frigate by reviewing engineering products and monitoring every phase of the production efforts at the Shipbuilder’s Facility in Marinette, Wisconsin. You will be part of a large contingent of Serco and Navy personnel on-site to support the ship construction effort. You will be exposed to every aspect of shipbuilding and share in the wealth of knowledge. You will work in the busy industrial atmosphere of shipyard involved in the serial production of the Navy’s newest warship. Daily interfaces will be with shipyard personnel at all levels, other Serco SMEs, Analyst and Engineers, SUPSHIP Bath personnel at all levels, Program Office (PMS-515) at all levels and visiting DOD personnel. In this role, you will:- Contribute by helping to ensure that delays and holdups are minimized between multiple ship builds- Assist with Serco’s maintenance of new construction records and data keeping- Maintain accurate and up to date tracking records of machinery progress.- Serve as a liaison between the Serco on-site team and SMEs from the Navy- Use experience, personal observation, and knowledge to identify potential delays, late material deliveries, impending technical challenges, quality, and sequencing issues.- Prepare regular reports to the Task Lead informing of accomplishments, challenges, and suggested improvements in both the shipyards production efforts as well as how Serco could improve their contracted oversight functions.- Maintain a general awareness of ships under construction to gain a working knowledge of events in progress.
