Serco has a Senior Shipyard Engineer role in Marinette, Wisconsin that will allow you to have influence every day.  As an on-site SME for structural fabrication, accuracy control and jigs/fixtures, you will be on a dynamic team, conducting daily oversight and surveys of conditions found at FMM Shipyard in Marinette, Wisconsin.  Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military defense, the quality of ships and the safety of our sailors. This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level clearance post-employment. Serco supports the US Navy as a prime for providing engineering and production support on the FFG-62 (Guided Missile Frigate) program.   In this role, you will become part of a skilled group of engineers and field technicians with a mission to improve the efficiency and quality of the shipyard’s processes and to deliver a safe and reliable ship to the US Navy. You will lead a four-to-six-member team that works closely with PMS 515, the local Supship office and other Serco teams to provide field engineering and production support in construction, testing, and delivery of the Navy’s latest Frigate design.  Our production engineering team conducts 3D model and 2D drawing reviews and our on-site team will provide oversight in the areas of fabrication of panels and modules, accuracy control of individual panels and modules and alignment.  Our Navy customer relies heavily on each individual’s skillset to provide support to the program office team as well as Supship and the shipbuilder’s team, all sharing a common goal to successfully build, test and deliver multiple FFGs to the next generation of sailors. In this role, you will:- Conduct daily walk-throughs of the various shops fabricating deck panels, bulkheads and other structural components or sub-assemblies to validate general compliance with drawings and specification requirements, including alignment of scantlings IWO module connection points.- Confirm standard accuracy control processes are being followed for jig and fixture installations, temporary blocking for modules or submodules.- Confirm standard etching or markings are applied to provide necessary information for shipfitters and welders to position and orient structural members, including frame, buttock, waterlines, and molded lines and also verify weld types and sizes are provided.- Participate in scheduled meetings with Supship, shipyard personnel and subcontractors, providing inputs when needed.- Observe overall quality of fabrication and welding work and report any conditions found.- Observe material handling, rigging and transport practices for safe methods and processes and report any issues/concerns.- Develop and submit weekly reports of activities, including conditions found and any anomalies or concerns observed during shipyard walk-throughs to the lead production engineer. - Develop and submit monthly reports of all completed activities to the lead production engineer.- Provide support to the local Supship team as needed and also respond to emergent requests for information or data from PMS 515P (FFG Production Team, Washington Navy Yard).
